Handle Monitoring

The handle you want is taken.
Watch it until it drops.

Check any username across every major platform, then let us watch it 24/7. You get one alert the second it frees up.

Watching a Telegram name? It checks differently - use the Telegram sniper.

How handle monitoring works

Three steps from taken to yours.

Check the handle

Type the username you want. We check it live across the platforms you pick - no account needed.

Watch it

Taken? One click puts it under 24/7 monitoring. We poll the platform on your plan's schedule.

Claim it first

The moment it frees up you get an instant alert - in-app, email, or webhook. Click through and claim.

Why usernames drop - and how we catch it

Usernames aren't locked forever. Handles free up three ways, and every platform plays by its own rules:

  • The owner renames. The old handle returns to the public pool: instantly on GitHub, on a documented recycling schedule on Twitch.

  • The account is deleted. The name is released once a grace window passes.

  • The platform purges. Inactive and banned accounts are swept in waves, freeing their names.

None of this is announced, and a brandable handle can be re-registered within minutes of freeing up. The only way to catch a drop is to be checking when it happens. That's what a watch does.

Every verdict comes from official platform APIs and verified data sources, scored with a confidence level - see our methodology and the handle monitoring guide.

FAQ

A continuous availability check on a username. NameSniper polls the platform on a schedule (every 12 hours free, down to every 15 minutes on Business) and alerts you in-app, by email, or by webhook the moment the handle becomes available.

Every supported platform. Watching Instagram, TikTok, and X requires a paid plan; every other supported platform is watchable on the free plan.

Yes. One-off availability checks are free with no account. Monitoring (recurring checks with alerts) requires a free account, with 2 watch slots included.

Depends on your polling frequency: every 12 hours on Free, hourly on Day Pass and Pro, every 15 minutes on Business. The alert is sent the moment a check observes the change.

Three main ways: the owner renames (most platforms return the old name to the pool, sometimes after a hold period), the account gets deleted (the name is released after a grace window), or the platform sweeps inactive and banned accounts. The exact rules differ per platform - the per-platform monitor pages cover the specifics.

Registering a username that has publicly dropped is allowed - it's a normal registration, just a fast one. NameSniper only reads public availability signals: we never log into platforms, automate signups, or touch accounts. The name you claim still has to follow each platform's naming, impersonation, and trademark rules.

The moment a check confirms the handle is free, you get an alert - in-app and by email on every plan, plus webhooks on plans with API access. The alert links straight to the platform so you can claim the name within seconds.

A checker answers once: is this name free right now? A monitor keeps asking on a schedule and tells you the moment the answer changes. If the name you want is taken, a one-off check can't get it for you - a watch can.
